The Deserted Cabin
By: Yoshi Govens
Chapter 1
The daze

W
hile walking down the road dizzy and confused, Justin, a sophomore, is wondering where he is. He keeps walking down the rough, gravely road the pebbles crunching together under his footsteps and sees an old cabin, and begins to think that maybe there is someone there who could tell him where he was. He gets closer to the old cabin and sees that the cabin is old, ragged, and rundown. The wood was old and there were bugs crawling and scratching in and out an up and down the logs. The closer he got the more he is able to see that the wood has turned nearly black and smells like old mildew as he walks over to the stairs. Once he reaches the stairs he notices that they are nearly gone so he jumps up all of them landing on a narrow support beam on the deck of the patio. He looks around and carefully makes his way to the door.
Chapter 2
The cabin

The door was big and covered in cracks there was an old fashion knocker in the door in the shape of a bat, it looks as if the door was once elegant and you could barely make out the old designs on it. He knocks on the door and hears it echo through the house. He waited for about thirty seconds and knocks again. After another thirty seconds he walks in and calls out to see is anyone was there. He looks around and sees that it is a single room cabin and walks in. as he steps a huge cloud of dust rises and stays suspended in the air, it smelt like still water and wet dog.
Chapter 3
The Mystery

H
e decides to go look for a phone and can’t see a thing so walks around the wall feeling for a switch every step making more dust rise into the air some of the dust landing into his mouth a making him gag. He finds a switch and turns it on. The house was filled with unsettling dust making it look foggy. The light bulb hummed and flickered giving a feint glow to the room. He finds an old 1970 phone with the turn dial buttons. He “turns” the number for 911 and waits for each number to return to the start position the clicking of the dial on every number. He gets the operator and tells her where he is. He hangs up the phone and hears a noise like claws scraping across the wood and turns around. All he sees is a cloud of dust where something moved from. Scared he quickly moves over to the door and reaches for the cold rusty door knob causing him to horripilate and wipes the sweat off his face. It was locked and he struggled to open it but cant so he turns and sits on the floor. Than the light cracked and went out…
